Homemade 'Cheesy' Popcorn
A delicious vegan popcorn made with only three ingredients - nutritional yeast, popcorn and ghee (or coconut oil). A five minute snack or movie night ritual.
Hi from Amsterdam!
I just arrived yesterday morning to this gorgeous city! It's been a while since I've been back but it's exactly how I remember it - charming architecture, welcoming locals, delicious hole in the wall cafes and bikes. Lots and lots of bikes. So before I leave to stroll aimlessly along the canals riding a bike as every visitor does, I want to share with you a snack. A delicious homemade cheesy popcorn. It's completely cheese-free but thanks to delicious nutritional yeast, this popcorn gives you a flavorful cheddar cheese taste. It's great for a movie-night-in or even as a mid-day snack.
See you guys soon!
xx M
Serves: 3-5
Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients for the Cheesy Popcorn:
- 1/2 cup organic popcorn kernels
- 4 tablespoons ghee or coconut oil
- 1/3 cup of nutritional yeast
- sea salt
Instructions:
In a large, deep cooking pot start by melting 1 tablespoon of the oil on medium-high heat. Then add in 2 kernels and place a lid on top of the pot. Wait for the kernels to pop. Once they pop add in the rest of the kernels and shake the pot so that the oil coats all the kernels.
Now in a separate smaller saucepan on medium heat melt the rest of the oil, then add the nutritional yeast and combine. Once all the kernels have popped, pour the nutritional yeast portion over and mix well. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste.
